You'd think we'd learn

You'd think we'd learn......
You would think that after all the evidence, mangled vehicles, broken bodies, and devastated families that we would figure this thing out. You would think that humanity would realize that everyone with a driver's licence is driving the equivalent of a weapon of mass destruction, that driving is NOT a right, but a sacred trust and privilege to be able to make our lives a bit easier, a bit more enjoyable. But it's becoming more apparent everyday that we seem to have a tendency to cause ourselves needless pain and suffering, that the normal day to day is just not enough of a challenge. We enjoy a celebration, a promotion, a wedding, a birthday with a drink or two, maybe some 'recreational' drugs and we are having a good time....Then here is when that tendency kicks in, we think that we are capable of driving a vehicle that may weigh a couple hundred pounds or as much as several thousand pounds and we get on the road. The reason for this rant....This morning I observed the aftermath of no less than three accidents, and the bewilderment in my mind is that only 23 hours earlier, a person made the same choices they made 2 years ago that caused them to be arrested for a DUI, had now caused a massive traffic delay, the destruction of 3 cars, a semi tractor trailer, the injury of four people and the death of 2 people, one of which is our erstwhile driver. Come on people, can we please have a return of common sense, maybe...dare I say....the use of that bit of gray matter between our ears? There are several options available for the party animal to remain on this side of life.
We are all in this together, let us start acting like we actually care.....
