Something I realized…..
It was one of the few places that felt ‘right’…….
I know that if I hadn’t PCS’d to Ft. Hood, I would probably still be on active duty today….
The one thing I realized that had changed my life forever was this….
“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”….
When I got to Hood, I was so home sick for Schwabach that I acted up and got stupid.
And forgot those words….I found them again and never will I cast them aside any more.
But I also know that everything happens for a reason…..
So thank you to the Marine…yes a Marine….for helping me to remember, who I was and what I stood for……

and I will find strength in my resolve I will seek the power within myself to do those things which only I can do and will live a life filled with promise
To strive for excellence is neither easy nor instant. The key is patience; I will find strength in my resolve I will seek the power within myself to do those things which only I can do and will live a life filled with promise and love. There is nothing in this life that I cannot achieve if I truly wish it to be. I will be the inspiration and the light inside. I will seek that which truly challenges and defines me as a creature of spirit and light.

Darkness Again
This ever-pressing fear has swallowed me
I don’t know if I can find the strength
To cast off its far-reaching grasp and
Reclaim my identity
My heart is filled with joy
My spirit with pride
And yet I am shadowed
By a sense of dread
How does it find me?
Why does it stalk?
Where does it lurk that I can not see?
It reaches a place that feeds my core
Takes pleasure in my struggle to evade
Holds my essence in bondage
Brings the darkness to me and crashes it over me
Like a grim reminder that I will never be free
From its hellish grip
Perhaps it can be appeased
Maybe reasoned with
Could I convince it to leave me in peace?
To find its sadistic pleasure somewhere else?
No, this is my burden
This is my curse
Stop that is what it wants
To convince me that I would have to battle it alone
No more can it hold sway over my life
Nor shall it gain another measure of dominion over me
I have discovered that which the darkness fears
It can only take you if you choose
To isolate and segregate your self
From those whose love strengthens your own
The darkness fears friendship
lyric undertone of life
Poetry is the lyric undertone of life, the pulsating current that at one time brings a quiet vivaciousness to ordinary situations and generous subtext to the extraordinary. The elegant, almost sublime textures of a football game are enhanced by its startling brutality. Birds calling out to each other, some seeking a mate, others calling for a parent emphasize the fragility and majesty of life's constant circle of wonder. Poetry is in the heart, mind and soul of us all. It fills us with a passion of simple things and a need for complex textures in a world that by nature is both chaotic and ordered.

Betrayal
Why do I have to keep things to myself forever more?
How is it no one takes care of their own house
Before going in to someone else's
Now I must find my own path
Now I must rely on my own choices
To guide myself through the darkness
For fear of being betrayed again
The pain is there
So is the fear
Why can't I bring anyone near my heart?
They claim to understand
But all they want is to control
To insinuate and regulate
Now I must find my own path
Now I must rely on my own choices
To guide myself through the darkness
For fear of being betrayed again
I thought I had left the darkness
Finally to break free of this haunting night
Funny when I stopped to smell the roses
All that crap came back to me
Now I must find my own path
Now I must rely on my own choices
To guide myself through the darkness
For fear of being betrayed again
Why have you betrayed me?
Was I not good enough?
Or strong enough
It seems I was convenient enough
Or is it you who is betrayed
Now I must find my own path
Now I must rely on my own choices
To guide myself through the darkness
For fear of being betrayed againMonday, June 19, 2006
Troubled
I have found a friendly shore
There is peace and quiet
And lots of friendly people
and they say I'm not a bore
My sprit has gone and left me troubled
My will has fled the scene
Tho the smiles are warm
And generous too
I still feel they may mean me harm
My body has gone and left me troubled
My joints and muscles ache
The trip through darkness has taken its toll
I feel so cold
But soon I may feel whole

Journeys
The journeys we take are for a reason...whether we realize it or not they have a beginning and middle and end but we never really know when or where we are.
We only know that our main journey started when we attained cognizance of who we are at that moment. We want to believe that we are in control of our lives and our surroundings, that we are masters of our domain. But we are not nor will be masters of this world. We are merely caretakers and co-habitants here. We have a divine purpose that compels us to act within and without malice to assist Gaia and heal that rift between us and nature. We have done a great disservice to our home and we can no longer allow it to continue.
To continually pursue a mastery of something that we can never control is pure folly and will lead to further ecological disasters. We have lost touch with reality.
We have lost our way.
Gaia is calling to us but we do not hear. The winds are reaching for us but we dont feel them. The trees are quivering, but we dont see them. The animals are running away, and we dont care.
We need to care or it will be too late. There is not much time left. We need to choose. Renew ourselves with our Earth or try to master it. Think about it. Now
